AHMC Awarded Accreditation From Joint Commission
(AVENTURA, FL, (October 30, 2006)) By demonstrating compliance with the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organization's national standards for health care quality and safety, Aventura Hospital and Medical Center has earned the Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval.
Founded in 1951, the Joint Commission is dedicated to continuously improving the safety and quality of the nation's health care through voluntary accreditation. The Joint Commission's on-site survey of Aventura Hospital and Medical Center occurred in October.
"Above all, the national standards are intended to stimulate continuous, systematic and organization-wide improvement in an organization's performance and the outcomes of care," says Darlene Christiansen, executive director, Hospital Accreditation Program, Joint Commission. "The community should be proud Aventura Hospital and Medical Center is focusing on the most challenging goal -- to continuously raise quality and safety to higher levels."
Heather Rohan, CEO spoke of her pride in a staff whose members ask what needs to be done to be accredited by the Joint Commission. "In addition, they appreciate the educational aspect of the survey and the opportunity to interact with the team of surveyors."
Rohan called the accreditation, "proof of an organization-wide commitment to provide quality care on an ongoing basis."
Aventura Hospital and Medical Center is a 407 acute care medical/surgery facility providing award winning inpatient and outpatient diagnostic, medical, surgical, cardiovascular and cancer services to the communities of northeast Miami-Dade and southeast Broward counties since 1965. Staffed by more than 700 physicians representing over 50 specialties and 1,300 employees, the hospital meets the healthcare needs of its neighboring communities through continuous program enhancement and service excellence.
